Maaan, gripdriver...
You seem to be just a brainless redneck who believes in what some drunk bloke in the gutter had told him. You don't give a new man a chance, you think that the words "liberal" and "democracy" stand for communism and ni***rs bombing up your hick town.
I've got to know some Americans here in the forum, and most of them were right in defending their national pride when everyone went on about bush's own country of bombing, torture and theft. Now you Americans have a chance to be a proud member of the country that wants to fix things again, and still you (I mean grip, not all the Amis) mock around, as if things could get worse for your country...

My first tattoo was alright, nothing special as well. Also I've long forgotten the pain and stuff.

Second one was big (6 sessions, 4 hours of needling torture each, plus about 15 hours of painting my schemes onto my arm) and I can clearly understand Woz's mental stage thing! After a while the pain becomes strangely vague and you don't feel connected to the hurting body part anymore. It sort of burns where the needle was (hellfire must be nothing against this) and it scratches where the needle is. Again, after a while you can't feel any defined pain anymore...
I've only heard the deafening high pitch rattle sound of the machine and Meshuggah screaming while I tried talking funny stuff my the guy that hurt me well :-)
Never tried drugs though, the whole experience is too cool without. And after all I think my body produced so many of its own drugs I was definitely getting high.

Note: First of all this is MY experience. Pain differs from person to person.

The hardest parts are just where the nerves are close to the skin. Crook of the arm and next to the elbow... Don't know the english expression for this, but you might have got this strange, almost electric shock once you've butted your elbow against something... that's a nerve going right next to your bone.
Bones don't hurt as much, the vibration of the needles just seems to go right through your body, which makes your vision funny and doesn't feel quite comfy.
It was also quite tough when the needles came down to the fibres near the wrist. Again nerves hurt a lot more!

The pain is hard to describe actually. I'll try something real quick

[butz tries to rip his skin up a bit with various household things]

Okay. Take a small fork and scratch yourself for a minute or two. Just until the point it really starts to hurt. Then scratch more. Imagine now that up to 15 very fine needles are constantly being rammed into your sin while the whole tattoo gun is moving. Sometimes it feels like stiching, sometinmes like scratching.

Hard to describe really, just look at this or this or search other first tattoo things on youtube. Although I've got two tattoos I still can really feel with the guys, for I've been in the same situation twice :-) Only I only screamed once (very loud that is!!) and my left arm is completely covered in ink...
I really hope I can help you showing that the final theme MUST be worth the cost and the pain you're going through!
Once I was lying on the chair of pain when suddenly 2 girls entered. They were 15 and had a fake permission by their parents to get each other's name on the butt... you all know girl's friendships do ya?! :-) Luckily my tattooer sent them away and called their parents before returning to work. That was a great laugh!!!

Easiest would be some transfer foil. You can get these tattoo-foils from ebay or different online shops. Just put them in your printer, print your motive and transfer it to your skin. These things last for a few days.

Non-permanent tattoos are a myth, either you have a bleached image for the rest of your life or it goes off after a few days/weeks. Everyone knows of those non-perm things, none of us knows who makes them... If there is ink transferred into your skin it's permanent.

it's you who wants to get it - how can someone else hinder you?

I'd not want to get this... Albrecht Dürer's hands are everywhere, plus the line "in god we trust" is something that can be discussed somewhere else...and is on American money, which has nothing to do with god.

As many people here say: Think of it, try something non-permanent with the picture you want, look at yourself, make really really sure if you want to have it done forever (nothing wrong with belief in something). Then - maybe after thinking about it for a long time - get it done!

You're right on most of the things you stated.

My tattoo though has got a meaning for ME, I wear it mostly hidden, so if I don't want it to be seen not even my boss will know. I'm not ashamed of it and in summer everyone can clearly see it when I'm not at work.

Most of the people who ask what it means just get "parts of machinery" as an answer, closer friends could get a closer explanation.
I've had the idea to my tattoo when I was about 5 years old. In my head it was not a tattoo, it was just thoughts and anxieties. Still the theme fits perfectly (that's why I got it done 6 years ago) and I'm still afraid of the same things, as I'll always be.
For bystanders it's only a piece of art (or crap) on my arm. For me it's a meaningful part of myself I couldn't express in any other way.

Quote from Woz :I got my first as I turned 40. Will prob get some more at some point.

Just make sure the design is what you REALLY want. Don't pick something because it looks cool. You will have to live with it forever. Just remember that the mental space you live later in life is VERY different to where you are now. You might think you will not change but you will and it is impossible to say how.

Pick a design that you feel you can be proud of, you will have it for life. If it will be visible really make sure as it will effect how people will interact with you. Once you have a design you think you like wait and check you still like 2+ weeks later.

I am glad I had mine done!

+1!

Plus: make yourself clear that

a) depending on where you'll get it and how much of a tough guy you are it will hurt like hell. For me the hardest bit was in the crook of the arm (sp?), that's where a lot of nerves go through. the elbow (bone) made my head shake while the needles went in, but that was quite okay. Note that there is no proper painkiller available. Alcohol seems easy, but it thins your blood and makes you bleed like a pig. I've heard of a mixture of vaseline and cocaine, supposed to muffle the pain, but well....

b) it will stay there for the whole rest of your life. Most people seem to not know that. For EVER you know. There will never be surgery that can get the thing off without leaving you scarred (this looks more terrible than a badly drawn tattoo, I've seen it!)

c) you might have to visit ten or more artists and check if they can do your kind of style, if they work sterile and so on.

d) paint the tattoo yourself. There can be no bigger embarrassment than seeing the tattoo you have on someone else near some pool. Put the thing on your skin somehow (edding is nice), watch yourself in the mirror a few days and get a feel. If you still like it after 2-3 days (it might be more grey than black by then, that's okay. should look like 10 years old now) then get it done properly.

e) an Arm costs about 1000 to 1500€ here, depending on the time it takes. full back might be much more. Ah wait, every tattooer can do a skull and some "bad" words in a minute since those guys have to do this all the time. You could get a rose for a tenner, but again see d).

Actually I tend to not believe brandon...

I've had 2 old Minis, raced 1 in a local rallye event and tuned them both very slightly (998 engines, first had 48hp, the rally one slightly over 50).

First of all I prefer the old Mini to the bmw 0-series because the Mini was revolutionary. The concept was to fit 4 people and some handbags into a car shorter than 10 feet. So they had to put the engine in sideways and mounted it directly onto the almost-syncro-4speed gearbox. The springs were made from rubber, the interior was minimalistic and cheap. That was all of the 600kg Mini. Todays 0-series is as big as all the other "compact" cars, weighing almost 1.3 tons, has been built without ANY revolutionary thing to it (it hasn't even got an Aluminium engine block...), just the design should make people thinking of the olden days.

Now I've had 2 of the proper Minis. And I was thinking of getting a new engine in as well. There are quite a few people who actually CAN do it, but there are 10000s of people who claim to have built one themselves, no sign of proof though (sorry brandon, nothing personal. You're not the first). Fitting a camshaft, mounting some proper pistons, getting the twincarb to work well (I had a HS4, wanted a double HS6 :-) kids dreams), these are hard to do things on an engine. But ripping out half of the front subframe, putting the engine in and fitting the new welded subframe to it, making a whole new wire harness (sp?), this is really hard work, impossible to do properly for amateurs like most of us. Don't forget you need a proper racing clutch which is light enough to fit the bike engine and sturdy enough to pull the car... You might need a reverse gear. For this some funny guys put a Mercedes starter motor into the car, so technically it's a hybrid :-)

The last thing I've seen was "...in a car that weighs less than half a tonne". No mate, this is not possible. I've ripped out the roof lining thingie, carpets, rear seats, mounted windows from macrolon (plastic sheet) and the car was still at 570, exactly back to 600 after mounting the rollcage (640 standard). Flipfront is 15kgs lighter than the stock one. I know much about tuning that thing, and I know why many people stick to rallying Opel Kadetts, Ford Escorts and other big cars: Because it's nearly impossible to make a Mini faster than cars with engine bays that could take 6-cylinders easily.

my brother has got some ridiculous ones on his not-so-sober homepage... here are a few:

-Scotty beamed me to the wrong place initially
-My car is broken, so I had to push it all the way to here. (edit: note that he didn't say that his car broke down...could have been broken for a month)
-Yesterday my girl handcuffed me to the bed and forgot to get me off again
-Sorry, I had to intensively prepare for todays excuse!

Wow, thanks awfully mate!
I indeed swapped the wires, due to the fact that the pots weren't built the way "normal" twisting pots are. This problem is now sorted (thanks anyhow, I'll keep those pdfs ni case I still might need them!). Now the simulator is almost done, I've got another problem. FF doesn't work properly. As long as I've got no FF everything is fine, when it is turned on it won't steer anymore. Maybe this is because either I've again put the cables in the completely opposite direction, maybe it's because the signal cable is just too long (2 metres COULD be just too much for 17 leads with signals running all back and forth...)

Thank you again, you've helped me a lot!

EDIT: It's just a part time job, the company I work for sell, build and rent driving and security simulators out to driving schools, car shows and stuff... Here you can see the car in action... was a while ago, still with the steering front wheels on turntables.

But hey, he could have of opted for a typical ostrogothic pun like: "it is a waist of money - my ankle has one like it and it's a hip of shit", so let's be thankful.

Whoo, I have to admit I had to read this twice... Maybe I should put the established sentence "sorry for my bad English" back into my sig.

Anyway, to get back to topic:

An SCSI HD will set you back about three fantastillions of your funny but worthless dollars, on the other hand it will help one chinese family to survive another day whilst another american broker could buy his next ferrari.
butzes top tip: get a normal SATA HD, they are dirt cheap, MUCH more quiet and don't turn the computer case into a red hot glowing metal ball.

I think the CPU and GPU are a bit ott too. Everytime there's a new "fastest [insert any PC component here] it's ridiculously overpriced. I always tend to take the best of the rest. It's cheap, fresh enough to be still fast, but old enough to support everything I want to do with it.

If you plan on doing some HEAVY video stuff or other serious thing with your rig, you might want to swap the "high end" Asus board with something that was designed not to shrink your dong, but to work properly in heavily used environments. I'd propose a tyan board in that case, we've had them at work with 4 CPUs and 96Gbytes of RAM each.

In the case you wanted to step down a bit your power supply is plain stupid! A 1250W PSU might take up to 600W only when idle! And like the SCSI HD it's going to be loud, hot and inefficient, apart from being overpriced and being able to shrink your Willy.

Last hint: get huge fans and proper cooling solutions if you still want to overclock. And for pete's sake don't put your PC specs into your sig once you've got it. None of us is interested in another one's e-Schlong.

I've used 3 different expressions for one-eyed snakes, affronted Americans and Chinese as well as forum members who have their Rig in their sig... Not a bad day.
And sorry for my bad English :-)

calling all momo modders, help needed

Hej ladies,

I'm at work atm and I've got one massive problem.
For modifying a black Momo I had to throw away the original pedal set and connected the cable to 2 5kOhm pots (these here)
Unfortunately when pressing the throttle pedal the brake value increases as well, while when only pressing the brake it works fine without interfering with anything.

I think it could be because of wrong cable sorting, but I don't have the original pots anymore to try them out. Maybe this occures to the pots having wrong resistance values. I have got some other, normal pots lying around, but 1st I'd have to build new mountings for them and 2nd they start at 100kOhms, which is simply too much, compared to the momo's 10k plastic crap.

Can anyone help (tonight or tomorrow morning please) and either find a workaround for this problem, tell me in which pot cables the resistance increases when turning, send pics of modded pedals, send links to anything that could help (no webshop please, I don't have time to buy anything tonight)?

I've got dxtweak running, latest logitech drivers. Tools are soldering Iron, some normal resistors (~40-220Ohm) diodes (4001 or 4007) and of course the worst of all wheels which doesn't work until I start that damn wingman-software...

The whole project will be a replica of Frentzen's 1999/2000 F1 car for car shows. Maybe I can shoot a little video of it running on KY when it's finally done :-)

Quote from Stiggie :I had this steering wheel, but i think it's crap. It broke down after about a month.
I already had some noises coming out of the clutch pedal after a week, and after 2 weeks the Wheel itself started squeeking. A few days later the left flappy paddle broke down, and that's when i decided to get a G25
Hasn't any of this occured to you yet?

Anyway, very nice mod! I can remember myself also being short of buttons with that wheel.

You seem to have much money, can I get some? Have you ripped your wheel apart like a hammersmith and couldn't send it in like normal people would do?

No, my wheel worked flawlessly for over 3 years, then one of the shifter paddles went weak. I called the guys from thrustmaster support and they immediately wanted to send over a bag of paddles and screws, so I could fix it myself (I've been out of warranty for over a year!!). Anyway, a little bit of 2k-glue and a small steel pin did the job pretty well.

I'm using the wheel (I shall call it oliver) in a normal manner. You on the other hand seem to be more of a gross-motorist, and if you can break the thrustmaster wheel I'd advise you not to use the shifter on the G25 as well :-).
Ah, there yould be something else as well! I guess you use the flappy paddles, only 2 pedals (with both feet, VERY pro!!) and you've set your wheel to 120° turning ratio! THEN the G25 is TEH best wheel you can get. Be sure to get "G 25" somewhere around your player name! :ices_rofl

It's even more fun to say this to my team mates in vent :-) Almost everyone at CR has got the G25!!! Whenever someone of them has a prob with his wheel I go all Hammond about it: "What? your wheel doesn't work?...oh a G25 you say.... you're screwed, bye!"

Also funny that some people really work it without the clutch, without the shifter (so flappy paddles) and at 40° steering lock (or whatever is the least you can get ask Reint... erm some anonymous guy about his settings), so those would have been better off with an old microsoft wheel (which is BRILLIANT!!!).

Nah, you always should go with whatever makes you happy really!
